Board Positons and Elections
We are holding elections for all officer positions. This is a great opportunity to get involved. To nominate yourself, send an e-mail with a blurb about why you want to be an officer and a little about yourself to our advisor Stephanie Atkins at ssatkins@uiuc.edu. Descriptions of the positions can be found here: http://acrl.lis.uiuc.edu/bylaws.html#ArticleIII. Please submit your nomination by Monday, September 11.
Guest Speakers
We are looking for suggestions for guest speakers. Please send an e-mail to the listserv with any ideas you may have. Eric suggested inviting Bill Maher, the University Archivist to speak about copyright issues. Mark reminded us that a Ph.D. student from Purdue volunteered to speak to us about digital issues.
Website
We gave a big thanks to Lynn Jasper for recoding the ACRL website. We have appointed Lynn as Webmaster for this year. As webmaster she will report to the Information Officer. Any comments or concerns about the website can be sent using the link at the bottom of the ACRL homepage (acrl@alexia.lis.uiuc.edu)
ACRL National Conference
The ACRL National Conference will be held from March 29- April 1, 2007 in Baltimore. We should decide if we would like to submit any proposals. Katie suggested we submit a Roundtable Discussion proposal about new librarians in academia.
LEEP Weekend
We have been asked if we would like to do anything for LEEP weekend. We thought we might want to buy apple doughnuts and cider from Curtis Orchard and bring it to ALA's pancake breakfast.
Fundraising
In addition to having apple doughnuts for LEEP weekend, we thought we might be able to sell apple doughnuts and coffee before 501 as a fundraiser.
